Other people's perceptions of your business will be based very much on the way you see it yourself.

For a new business, or one which you are reinventing, having a clear idea of what it will be like in a few years' time helps to position it in your mind, and those of your associates and clients, as on the way to achieving that goal.

For a more mature business, it's a good idea to revisit that goal and ensure the fit is still good. Refine it where need be, and ensure any staff and new customers are as familiar as you are with where you are headed and what you have achieved.
