Whether you want to increase your sales or get your company to the next level, you need to confront friendly challenges.
But they are only obstacles if you view them that way. If you really want to get from point A to point B, you might have to deal with point X in order to get there.
Becoming successful means different things to different people. We all have different skill-sets. However, the following barriers could be holding you back:
1. Procrastination
The number one barrier to success is procrastination. People talk about goals but fail to achieve them because of sheer laziness. They become comfortable with what they're used to doing on a daily basis.
They become complacent, and associate with others who are complacent. As soon as you become excited about new ideas, write them down AND THEN take action. Goals without action are a waste. Days can turn into months gone by with nothing done. Never make excuses for what you can do right now.
A small step is still a step. All actions add up.
2. Negative connections
Sometimes people have great goals and visions but they never get implemented because of a negative environment. Who can you share your ideas with? Make sure you associate with positive people.
Support is a huge motivator to success. Find out what others like you have done in the past, and follow their path. Change course once you get the ball rolling. Remove yourself from negative influences as soon as possible. There's absolutely no need for it.
3. Fear of failure
When you dream , it might as well be big. Do not allow your fears to take over.
Fear is a big part of success. Every time you move into unfamiliar territory, you are going to experience those butterflies in your stomach. Its part of the package.
Accept your fear and continue to strive despite of it. Failure leads to success because you learn the things that don't work. You keep learning the things that don't work, until a light-bulb switches, and you learn the things that do.
Painful, but rewarding.
4. Fear of success
Some people are afraid of succeeding. Perhaps it might be too overwhelming for them when they "get there." Like the fear of failure, the fear of success is only an emotion. Think about being complacent for a moment. How would this make you feel? Why not reward yourself for your hard-earned success?
Why not learn how to accept and enjoy your success? There is no reason to feel guilty. You have earned it. You can also become a positive influence on others.
5. Fear of isolation
We've all heard the saying, "It’s lonely at the top." Again, don't let this fear stop you from accomplishing all that you want. Perhaps you are uncomfortable with being viewed as powerful or influential, and fear that others won't accept you. If they're real, they will. It doesn't have to be lonely at the top. It can be a blast. Everything that happens is due to a mindset, whether true of false.
