Now talking to Inland Revenue is even easier!

Be among the first to test Inland Revenue's new Natural Language Speech Recognition technology, which allows you to just ask for the tax-related stationery you need, instead of having to use your touch tone phone

Inland Revenue are introducing the latest Natural Language Speech Recognition (NLSR) technology this year to enhance their INFOexpress National Stationery Line.

NLSR technology incorporates Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems which will enable callers to request options with their voice, rather than having to key in numbers for options on the touch tone keypad of the telephone.

NLSR provides high speech recognition rates and is a much simpler and easier-to-use interface. Customers will be able to interact with Inland Revenue by telephone in a more natural way, while still being able to choose other self service options, such as online services, if they prefer.

NLSR

will focus on the current INFOexpress National Stationery Line and it is targeted to be implemented nationally by 5 January 2004..

Demonstration and feedback
From 1 December 2003 to the end of January 2004 a demonstration number has been set up for those interested to trial the new system. If you would like to trial the new system to order stationery, please ring 0800 220 014. You can use your own IRD number to trial the new service.

Inland Revenue would also really appreciate your feedback on the new service.

Please forward any feedback that you have to one of the following Project Members:  janine.potroz@ird.govt.nz or paul.stothart@ird.govt.nz
