\"Oh Dad - get a life!\"

Ah that well-worn cry of any long-suffering 16-year-old... Well I\'m a lot older than sixteen and I reckon those kids have got a handle on it. In my work as a personal Coach I sense that \"Getting A Life\" is what all of us (secretly) want. So I thought I\'d be a bit helpful and write up a summary of those characteristics that I think some of us have and others don\'t, but want to have... I guess I\'m talking here about \"winners and losers\"... see if you can spot yourself here in these two lists! I\'d like to say that as far as I\'m concerned the process of \"Getting a Life\" is that amazing passage of living by default to living deliberately!

Signs that you are living by default (Relying on others to make it happen for you):

1. You procrastinate.
2. You think negatively.
3. Your life is pretty aimless.
4. You make excuses often.
5. Your thinking is victim based. (\"poor me\" ...\"it\'s not fair\", etc. etc. etc.)
6. I\'m not very successful in what I do.
7. I am confused.
8. I\'m prone to be a bit lazy.
9. Yes I\'m a bit of a drifter too.
10.I get depressed sometimes.
11.My friends think I\'m a loser.
12. I keep up appearances - I \"perform\" for others.

Signs that you are living deliberately (choosing your own life settings)

1. You are focused in most things that you do.(e.g. Team New Zealand!)
2. You are a positive thinker.
3. You are goal-driven.
4. You create your own circumstances.
5. You take responsibility for yourself.
6. You are successful - and it looks like it!
7. You have plenty of inspiration.
8. You are motivated.
9. You are a self-starter.
10. You are honest with your thoughts and feelings.
11. You\'re a winner!
12. You are authentic. What you see is what you get!
