I've received a number of emails from some person called [name removed for legal reasons - Ed] offering business seminars, principally on web marketing.
If you receive any emails from him DON'T sign up.
He is clearly a spammer although there is supposedly an opt out link.
He is acting illegally, as one of the emails I received is addressed to the registered domain holder of one of the domains I manage.
The domain holder happens to be my mother who actually doesn't do anything with it, and barely uses the internet - I manage it myself, and the only way to get her name would have been to look up the domain name registry information.
Doing this to send commercial emails is strictly prohibited, by the NZ domain registry system. I will see if I can follow up with them, but if not, I'm warning everyone to stay away from this scammer.
Hopefully if he gets all his domains blacklisted by spam filters, he might find his form of 'internet marketing' shut down. He certainly doesn't deserve to be getting money off anyone else to teach them how to do it.
I'm sure there are plenty of legitimate people on homebizzbuzz who can provide advice on how to do things properly and legally if you need internet marketing advice.
Thanks for the heads up on this.
I have noticed the increasing number of people offering 'search engine optimisation' courses, that involve techniques which would ultimately get businesses sites blacklisted from Google. They've been using similar domain registration searches to target their emails as well.
