Hello I'm excited to be joining this forum.
I've recently started setting up my own business, and am a complete novice. I have spent the majority of my working life working for others, and now want to spend the second half being the master of my own destiny. Not sure if other sole traders are like me, enjoying what I do, but struggling with not having a regular team or colleagues to bounce ideas off? I would love to know if there is a coffee group where sole traders get together, share ideas, offer support etc.
Thanks Gino

Just had to say hi - but the again maybe I'm mistaken. Since you have an 04 code I assume you're one of those relatively rare creatures around here - a Wellingtonian. But you're phone number only has 6 digits - so either you're from the distant past, another part of the world, or you're missing a digit.
In terms of support groups, there is one in Wellington - although I confess not being from Wellington itself (from the Huitt) I haven't been to one, so don't even know if it still meets. We did have a separate group out our way but that was a while ago.
And the other thing is (you might guess from this I'm an accountant) that I'd encourage you to avoid the term sole trader in general conversation like this. People are often in partnerships, andsome of us recommend the use of companies for even small businesses. So sole trader may tend to cut out some people, when I'm sure that's not your intention.
Hope your new business is successful.

I work from home and enjoy it. Living here in Whangarei we have a great group called Just coffee and we meet every month designed for small business owners. It has been a great way to meet others and promote what we do.
Thanks for touching base. It's great to hear that others are thriving working from home. I'm curious, how did you get the small business group of the ground. Would love to chat about it. I'm am thinking that it might be time to get one happening down this way.
