Keep on top of your to-do list

The busier we become the more we forget, and it's easy for important things to slip through the cracks. Tracy Stockman suggests some simple steps to be more productive and help improve your memory.

  1. Grab a notebook and start writing down everything you need to do -- now, next week, yesterday and next month.  Just let the pen flow.  Carry the notebook with you everywhere and add to it as things you need to do come to mind.

  2. Review the list and mark items:  PD (Pickup/Deliver), P (phone), W (write), DH (do at home), DW (do at work).  By breaking your 'To-Do' list down into categories, you will be able to group tasks and accomplish much more by completing 'similar' tasks at the same time.

  3. Where possible delegate anything that you can that's on your list. Try bartering with co-workers and/or family to help tick some of those jobs off your list.

  4. Prioritise everything on your list.  If it is urgent, mark it with a red pen.  If it has a deadline, write the date in green.

  5. Move some items from your notebook to your daily to-do list every day.  Check them off as you complete them.

  6. Make sure you include even the little things as it's amazing how these add up to a big chunck of time.

By writing down things to do, you will reduce the mental clutter swimming around in your head.

You'll sleep better, think more clearly and accomplish more!

Remember to celebrate each and every one of your accomplishments.
