"imcoolbaby@hotmail.com" is not a business email address. A proper (paid-for) email address is just one of the small things that projects a professional image.
There are two types of general TXTing Systems, TXT “out” and TXT “in”.
Depending on your business, you may use one or both of these.
All you need to do is record your customers’ Mobile numbers when they use your products or services.
Periodically, depending on your business, eg every 6 or 12 months, schedule TXT Messages to remind your customers they are due for their next appointment or service. These can go in bulk, so prepare yourself for an influx in business (wouldn’t that be great !)
Our experience is that the customer is really happy to get their reminder this way.
It is important to use a professional system, to ensure you can rely on the TXT delivery, that TXT’s are only sent once, that it is supported, has a reply feature, and opt out facilities. You don’t want to annoy your customers with doubling up, unwanted or missing TXT’s. They need to be able to reply, as situations often change. We have found that the use of International TXT systems are not 100% reliable for TXT’s coming into NZ, so a system must have a NZ SMS gateway.
TXT “In” is where you have a TXT Short Code, and a range of WordCodes, eg your business name, event and product names.
Depending on your type of business, you may offer a prize, feature products registrations for an event or some form of participation.
You tell people to TXT xxxxx to 8808 for entry into the event or promotion. xxxxx would be your business name or the product or event name. When they do this, they get an automated reply with your business details in their phone.
Txts are a poor way of communicating as it usually takes about 4 texts back and forth to really understand what is required and takes a lot longer than a two minute phone call which is far more personal and accurate to understand the needs of the person involved. May suit some, but not for me.
Hi Peter, you are right after the first reply, but the systems we are talking about here are where you can send txt's to 100's or 1000's of customers at the click of a button. Those that reply will come back to your email. Of those that reply, then you can pick up the phone and ring them.
The gain, is in the initial contact, from your computer or business database, reaching out to a large number of your customers far more quickly than you could by making hundreds or thousands of phone calls.
Thanks for your comment.
Grant.
