Where would you like to see yourself personally and professionally in the next 5 years? What career path have you chosen? How far are you willing to go to achieve your desired goals?
Building a business of any kind takes work and patience. Most people complain that they are NOT where they want to be in some areas of their lives, but do nothing to improve their situation. Don't be one of them.

Instead, get out there and test yourself. Test your strengths and weaknesses, observe your habits / patterns and focus on what you want. Do the thing that you fear the most to build up your self confidence. Public speaking might be one of those things. By taking on challenges regularly, you get to experience the "high" or "rush" of self motivation and a strong sense of accomplishment. Why accept your current circumstances when you can make them more exciting.

What is it that you truly want?
Write it down. Think about small steps you can take to accomplish your desired goals. If you don't yet know, this is alright. Instead, write down what you enjoy doing - and brainstorm new things to try.

Next, figure out what "you" think holds you back in certain areas of your life
Fear of rejection, anxiety, failure or something else. Its normal to experience negative emotions from time to time, especially when trying something new. Make sure to get passed this point. This is where your confidence grows.

  • Perhaps you're a young female running her own business facing the constant challenge of proving her level of credibility in the corporate world. Maybe this is exhausting, because you know that you would be further ahead if taken more seriously. Who really cares?
  • Perhaps you've just realized that you have been in the wrong career in your late 40s / early 50s. Now you know what you want. The point is you must get out there. You only have one life to live, so live it at each changing moment. Don't get stuck in a rutt, like most people. Be different than them.

Ignore the nay sayers
Who will try and discourage you. People like to "box" others because "movement forward" scares them. Know this in advance. As soon as you go for what you want, many will appear and "test" your strength. Thus, only confide in those individuals who believe in self-development and who support your interests and ideas. You already know what to do with the ones who don't.

Write down your goals
Along with when you will accomplish them, visualize them happing right now, get the support of others and go for it. As you face obstacles (of any kind), your confidence grows. There is no other way.
